TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie

I first introduced you to TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie in my Top 5: Happy Hour in Flatiron line up, but I wanted to tell you more about the food.  They have been in business over a year, and these Udon specialists are showing no signs of slowing down.  The Brasserie located near Union Square and is the first location in the United States, but they currently have 13 restaurants in Japan.  With plans to expand to more locations, this is one to definitely keep your eye on.

In NYC, Ramen and Udon noodle shops are about as typical as McDonald's and can be found in any neighborhood. TsuruTonTan sets themselves apart by providing their customers with a very diverse menu from your traditional Udon, creamy broth, and a curry broth.  When ordering your entree, you are given the choice of thin or thick noodles as well and their bowls have a prices range from $15 - $30.  Save room in your tummy because there is no take-home option.  I am assuming it is because Udon is something meant to be eaten immediately after it is prepared.

TsuruTonTan happy hour is all day every day, and I suggest you hop on board before they change this promotion.  Happy hour is only at the bar and includes some specialty cocktails, wine, beer, and appetizers as well.  The bar gets packed around 6:30 so get there early to secure your seat at the bar.  This is the excellent place to dine solo or with a large group because of their setup in their dining room.  I strongly encourage making recommendations if you with large parties to prevent a long wait time.
