Zusik: Newest Korean Restaurant in West Village

I have several food blogger friends who will not write a review for a restaurant if they have been open for less than a year, and it makes perfect sense. Opening a restaurant can be a lot of work but also making sure your front and back of the house are running seamlessly together is not always easy. The food was at Zusik was so delicious I felt like was doing a disservice if I didn’t tell you about it. So instead of considering this a review look at it more as an announcement of a new restaurant with great food. LOL!

The owners of the newest Korean restaurant located in West Village has 50 years combined of hospitality experience, which shines through in their service and the food. Have you ever eaten at a restaurant back to back in the same week? Oh, just me? This my good friend is exactly what happened to me at a Zusik. This restaurant is located near 14th and 7th Avenue, and they just opened their doors for the first time in April of this year. “Zu” translate to alcohol beverages and “Sik” means food, which I had plenty of both.

During my two visits, I dined at both a table and at their spacious bar and received stellar customer experience both times. The music playlist for this modern designed space ranged from BTS (by the way I am officially part of The Army) to Nipsey Hussle. The level of music is not overbearing, and you will not find yourself yelling across the table to a friend.

The food is served tapas style , which is perfect if you are dining in a group or grabbing dinner on your own. My personal favorites from the dinner menu included their Short Ribs, Fried Chicken, Glass Noodles, Pork Buns and Spicy Fish Cakes. I tapped into my adventurous side and tried the Pork Jelly which is just what it sounds like, and the server informed me it is something Koreans eat for special occasions such a wedding, birthdays, and other celebratory events.

Zusik has a lot of competition being located on West 14th, but I believe they have the winning equation to become a favorite spot on this busy street. With full menus for brunch, lunch, and dinner I am sure you will have a reason to visit.
