Puerto Viejo

Puerto Viejo is a Dominican Bistro that is located in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.   This family-owned restaurant wins you over with their friendly staff, food that makes you want to plan your next trip back before leaving, tasty sangria, and let's not forget about their homemade Pisqueya Dominican hot sauce.

Puerto Viejo has an amazing happy hour that is from Monday - Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm.  During this time you can indulge in $5 sangria, $3 beers, and $1 empanadas.  They have lunch specials as well from noon to 4 pm that includes either roast pork, baked chicken, or stewed chicken for $7.  Along with your choice of meat, it includes an order of rice and beans, and for a $1 extra, you can get an order of maduros or vegetables.

With such a diverse menu I am sure everyone in your party will find something to eat.  They even have several dishes and sides that are gluten free and vegan as well.  Some of my favorites includes bacalitos, empanadas, mofongo and Pechuga y Aguacate (chicken sandwich).  What I love about their menu online is they feature pictures of the food which helps people who are visual.  I have always been open to trying something new each time I visit and they have never let me down.  Their homemade sauce is unforgettable and you will have the urge to put it on everything.  It is available for purchase at the restaurant and available for shipping via their website.  I got hot sauce in my bag, SWAG!
